What is QEMU for Windows - PPC emulator, runs Mac OS 9.1, 9.2 + OSX 10.0 to 10.5? QEMU is a very versatile and extremely broadly supported open source virtual machine emulator. In 2016, QEMU could finally achieve what has never been possible before: emulating Mac OS 9.0.4, 9.1 and 9.2.2 (albeit still it's quite slow and the sound support is kind of buggy at the moment). Note that QEMU can also emulate Mac OS X 10.0 up to 10.5.
As a prior Windows user, on the Mac I miss some popular video game console emulators like VisualBoyAdvance or ZSNES. Especially the lack of a good Game Boy Advance emulator is bugging me.
At some point in the near future hopefully, QEMU will fully replace, but at the moment, SheepShaver still runs faster in most situations. Advantages of using QEMU vs SheepShaver:. Mac OS 9.1.x and 9.2.x emulation (SheepShaver cannot). Much more stable networking (SheepShaver randomly crashes while using the networking features).
Cursor animation (or anything else for the matter) does not reset the pointer in the host OS (SheepShaver does and it's annoying!). QEMU can run on almost all imaginable CPU architectures, even ARM (e.g.: Raspberry Pi) These bundles were put together by 'that-ben' and are intended to be the easiest possible for beginners. Just launch the 'QEMU - Mac OS 9.2.2.bat' (or 'QEMU - Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11.bat') file and wait 30 seconds for Mac OS to boot up.
Nevermind the yellow screen with a VRAM partition not found error, it will go past this without any problem. The Mac OS 9 package contains a 450MB disk image on which Mac OS 9.2.2 is already fully installed. The Mac OS X package contains Mac OS X 10.4.11. If you need a larger disk image, you can grab one instantly from here: Networking is functional thanks to the Realtek rtl8139 driver for Mac OS 9, which is pre-installed here for you already. It will use DHCP and network through your host Windows machine. 736 / 2017-12-18 / 3610454fff128182efa343478e86ca587fe940c3 / Architecture Intel x86-64 Compatibility notes This program is for Windows. USEFUL TIPS WHEN USING QEMU:.
To install another Mac OS version, exit QEMU if it's running and then simply edit the 'QEMU - Boot with a CD ISO.bat' command file with the Notepad to reflect your actual install CD ISO file location and launch that batch file. To capture/uncapture the mouse pointer, hit CTRL-ALT together. Since 2018, it's now CTRL-ALT-G.
To go toggle the full screen mode on or off, hit CTRL-ALT-F. Hit CTRL-ALT-2 together to open/close the QEMU console.
DO NOT HIT THE X TO CLOSE THAT WINDOW OR IT WILL INSTANTLY EXIT THE WHOLE QEMU AND THE VIRTUAL MACINTOSH WITH IT. To hot-attach a disk image ISO, in the QEMU console, adapt this command: change ide1-cd0 C:/path/to/file.iso. To hot-detach a disk image ISO, first in OS9, put it the trash, then in the QEMU console, type this: eject ide1-cd0.
I realize it is stated 'For Mac OS, the Emulator has not been tested with MacOSX 10.7 Lion', but I'm wondering whether anyone has the emulator running with Mac OS X Lion. I'm running Mac OS X 10.7.5 and a trial version of VMWare Fusion 6. I downloaded and extracted the file ibmndnemulatorNPS6.0.84Mac.7z. When I try to open 'IBM Netezza Emulator.app', I receive an 'IBM Netezza Emulator quit unexpectedly' message. I have attached the problem details report (unfortunately it doesn't mean much to me). Can anyone shed any light on the issue I'm having? Thanks in advance.
Krishna, Thanks for your reply. I decided upon a different approach in the end using nested VMs. So what I have on my MacBook is Windows 7 running under VMware Fusion 6. Within the Windows 7 VM I installed the following:. VMware-player-6.0.0-1295980.exe. VIX SDK VMware-vix-1.11.2-591240.exe. IBM Netezza Software Emulator for Developers v7.0.3 for Windows with RedHat Linux v6.2 After launching the Emulator, I try to start the Host VM via Tools-Host-Start.
In the Log window I get the message: PowerOn problem: error: there was an error in communication Host was not started properly. However, I can ssh to the Host VM and run commands such as: nz@netezza $ nzstate System state is 'Discovering'.
Next I try to start the SPU VM via Tools-SPU-Start. Again I get the messages below: PowerOn problem: error: there was an error in communication SPU was not started properly. Interestingly, in the Emulator GUI both the Host VM and SPU VM are stated as Running. I'll now try to start the system: nz@netezza $ nzstart WARNING: NPS fabric interface 'eth1' has a sub-optimal MTU: 1500 WARNING: NPS fabric interface 'eth1' tx queue length is low: 1000 (startupsvr) Info: NZ-00022: - program 'startupsvr' (4249) starting on host 'netezza'. nz@netezza $ nzstate System state is 'Online'. nz@netezza $ nzhw show Description HW ID Location Role State - - - - - SPA 1001 spa1 None Ok Disk 1002 spa1.disk1 Active Ok Disk 1003 spa1.disk2 Active Ok Disk 1004 spa1.disk3 Active Ok Disk 1005 spa1.disk4 Active Ok Disk 1006 spa1.disk5 Spare Ok SPU 1007 spa1.spu1 Active Online As far as I can tell, everything is working. However, I am getting similar power issues when I try to stop the VMs via the Emulator GUI: Stopping SPU.

PowerOff problem: error: the virtual machine is not powered on c: program files ibm ibmpuredatasystem4analyticsse emulatorvms spu spu.vmx To power off the SPU VM I then go into the SPU VMware Player and select Power - Shut Down Guest. I get similar messages for the Host VM and power that off in the same way via VMware Player. Do you know how these power on and off issues can be resolved?
